MP4

I decided to use the image of the Scott lab’s study room.   I choose this place because I spent almost all my sophomore year’s free time here.  I always study in this room, and also a little entertainment, like chat with friends.

The basic idea of my job is cut and paste my studying image to the room, and these images are actually shoot from different time, so it looks pretty interesting because it means I always study in that spot, and also looks like I'm travelling in the time line. I also adjust visuality of my images, to make it looks like it's me in the room but in the different time.  There are also some of my friend's stuff on the desk, but there obviously are no other people in this room, because I want to show how I entertain in this room with my friend, and I still want to make it my own spot, so there are no other people.

Response to Kaprow "Blurring of art and life"

I like the author's opinion about some art exhibit in the gallery cannot count as art.  It's just like the experience I had in Wexner Center several days ago.  Some of these people's work really make nonsense to me, and I think it's just some normal object but in the different context like what the author said, and I really cannot understand why people should admire these things. In my particular opinion, art should not only depend on the people who created, it should depends on people who is enjoying it, because the art in each people's eyes is different. And i also like his opinon about the nonoticed action during our daily life, and almost 90% of out act is not noticed by ourselves. This really make sense to me, because I always feel like this.
There's no specific part that I don't like, but I do have a question. Does the author believe in like different people have different kind of art when they are the audience? Because in my point of view, brush teeth is clearly not art to me, but it's kind of art to the author.

One or two words – Handheld gaming
Cellphone – I use cellphone for about 8 years, which is more than 1/3 or my entire life.  I use it to make phone calls, send and receive text messages, surfer internet and play games.  I will feel very comfortable if one day I forget to charge my phone, and can’t use it at all.  It already a indispensable object in my life.
One or two words – Connection
Ipod – Music is one of my favorite entertainments in my life, and all of my favorite songs are in my Ipod. My head will shake with the rhythm when I listen to my favorite metal rock music, and I will deeply and completely fall into the world of music.  It will make me feel really comfortable and relax.
One or two words – Comfortable and relax
Laptop – I can almost do everything I can imagine with my laptop. I use it every day to surf internet, do homework, watch videos, listen music etc. It’s a must have necessity in my life, which can solve every problem I ever have..
One or two words – All – purpose
Wallet – This is no need to explain actually. It contains all my Bank cards, and identity cards such as driver’s license and buck ID. I will lose my self without it in the modern world.
One or two words – Identification

Besides all these stuff above, there are still some characteristic of me that haven't been shown. For example,  I really like to play basketball, and hanging out with friend, however I guess people usually won't take a basketball when they got a fire lol.

Response to Sullivan “Feet in Smoke”

This article is mainly talking about a man’s elder bother which is a musician was almost electrocuted to death, when he was listening to his new song by the microphone for his show.  The man’s brother is somehow survived from the “death”, and he told the author about the feeling during his “death”.  I like the author’s documentation about his brother’s recovery, because it makes people feel it is a truth when he is recording this one day and another, and it’s kind of funny as well.  And it is also remind me that it’s looks very similar to my favorite video game which is world of warcraft, they have a special technology called “Goblin Jumper Cables” which is using electricity to resurrect. I think it’s kind of fun. LOL
Electricity is a necessity that we have to use it every day, and we can even use it like pacemaker to save people’s life from death. However it also cause couples of accident every day, people even could die because of this. Here comes the question, is that a really good thing to use the electricity for almost everything in our daily life?

Micro Project 2

Basically this map is mixing by some pictures by my journey to the classroom, and the clue which connected all of these pictures is the route chart which is cut from the Google Map. And I use the blue color instead of the white, which means the beautiful sky every morning. Also a cartoon sun to show my favorite sunshine during the journey.

It's actually the hardest part for me that everyday when I try to get out of my bed in the morning.  However, after I clean up, and go outside, I can feel very comfortable with the fresh air and beautiful sunshine, I can even smell it. I usually walk to the classroom. And after a couple of steps, here we go, my favorite stone will show up. It is very beautiful and has a big "O" on it which is a symbol of our school. After that I will go across some nice house, then we will meet the Lane and High cross, which is the worst part of the journey, because of the loud car noise, it will make you feel unhappy to hear such a noise in the morning right after you get up. Then after a straight long walk and a simple left turn, our stadium will show up, which means our best class is ready to go! yepppy!!! :)

Complement Explenation: My basic idea is use the google map to be my bacground, but I feel that other road or building besides my trip to classroom is useless, so I simply just cut them off by scale tool. And I put a pure light blue background instead, to represent the blue sky during the trip.  And I also use some pictures that involves my five senses, like the stone that I've seen makes me happy, the car noise from the cross,  the fresh that I've smelled etc.

Wexner Review

Art is very mysterious word for me, before I took Art Education this quarter.  However, even I’m study art right now; it’s still a mystery actually.  When I went to the Wexner center for the arts last weekend, I really feel the mysterious of arts.  The first impression about the Wexner center to me is the architecture structure.  It is really beautiful and creative.  And it’s almost the only thing I can understand that can be considered as art.  The art work inside the Wexner center is beautiful, and the most impressive part to me is David Smith’s work.  He’s work is almost like some assemble structure of cubes.  It’s beautiful but it’s hard to catch his mind.  And there is one special work watch attract me a lot.  It structured by some spheres and cuboid, and they are just pile up there like in a pretty chaos order.  The whole work is in completely white; however the name of the work is “color”.  I’m trying so hard to catch the author’s mind, but apparently I can’t, and I really wish to know it. :P

Micro-project 1

unstable

Symmetrical

Asymmetrical

My name on campus

Person and their surrounding space

An image from the point of view of a bird

An image from the point of view of an ant

This is kind of experience which very different than the last one. Although they are all taking photos, but this time I pay much more attention on it, and I also know more about shooting skills. This is actually much more fun than the last one, because we have a certain goal to deal with, but not like just randomly pick up some photos. My favorite is the basketball court one, because it really show my characters, which is outgoing and crazing on basketball.

Response to Hornby “Nipple Jesus”

This article is basically talking about the security guard of an art gallery screwed up his job, and let a picture which is named “nipple Jesus” to be ruined by some protesters.  He is very sad about that, and he felt how much he loved this picture after he lost it.  But the artist of “nipple Jesus” is very happy about that, because he thinks the work which brings controversy is the actual good work.  I actually pretty like the artist’s thought, because if an art work is just stand here and no one even notice it that is a failure.  However, if someone hit your work so much and even want to ruin it, that’s means your work attract people, it’s kind of successful.
In the end of the story, the guard said the artist’s movie of the nipple Jesus’s CCTV movie is not succeed, and in my mind the novel might want to show that people should not be that arrogant like the artist, but it’s might be wrong. So my question is what the actual meaning beyond the surface is, or what is the author actually trying to say about?

Response to the Walker and Barrett articles

WALKER
This article is pretty much talking about big idea in artmaking.  I like the idea because it is very helpful on introducing personal idea in to people’s art work.  Since I always search online for the inspiration, before I created my work, this is kind of helpful for me.
However, one thing that makes me dislikes this article.  Since we study the academic writing for such a long time we know that only giant idea is not a good stuff for your work, you need specific and small point to make point of your work helpful. So this article may not comprehensive enough in my point of view.
Barrett
This article is quite useful for me, because it introduces a good skill when you do your visual art work.  Denotation and connotation are both very important for people who are using the metaphorical way to do art work.
However, I still hold a question after I read the article.  This article is always using the example to explain the differences of denotation and connotation, but I still don’t get is there a strict bound that can divide these too skills? Because, in my mind, sometimes things which are denotative can always be connotative as well.
